Tech billionaire and Texas transplant Elon Musk is looking to expand his empire in Austin with plans to build a school and a university, according to tax filings.
The project will begin with a STEM-based primary and secondary school funded in part by a $100 million donation from Musk to his new charity, The Foundation, according to IRS filings first reported by Bloomberg on Wednesday.
Once the school is operating, The Foundation will seek accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools “to create a university dedicated to education at the highest levels,” an IRS application for tax-exempt status obtained by Bloomberg states.
